
Planning Your Charlotte Mason Homeschool Year

I’ve been a CMEC member for for three years, and this is my third time prepping for the school year! Today I’m sharing 10 tips for planning your Charlotte Mason Homeschool year with the CMEC. Using something else?
If you aren’t a CMEC member and you are using Ambleside Online, The Alveary or something similar, most of these steps will work well for your planning too!
10 Helpful Tips for Planning Your Homeschool Year
- Print form guides and shopping lists for each form. Place them all in a binder with tabs.
- Highlight what you need to purchase vs. what you already own. (See video for details.)
- Order books and check them off as they arrive with a specific highlighter color. Place them in a special shelf.
- Read through your grade-level form guides and/or reading schedule.
- Make a pre-reading plan for the summer and begin pre-reading while working on the next few steps simultaneously. (See my pre-reading post here.)
- Make a common subjects term-planner (see it here).
- Formulate your morning timetable. (See my timetable video).
- Set-up your mother’s logbook. (See my logbook video).
- Prepare for family subjects like artist/composer study.
- Read through any additional guides, like Modern Language guide, Folksongs/Hymns guide. Also, prepare by previewing the arithmetic programs, reading instruction programs, you plan to use for each student.
