I’ve scoured the internet for important hospital bag items this time around. You see, the first time, I just figured I’d pack some clothes, maybe my own pillow, and a newborn outfit for baby. But this time, I’ve done some serious research, and found the best products and must-have items for your hospital bag. The catch? You’ll actually pack three separate bags to fit into your suitcase. That’s right. Here is a comprehensive post on what to pack in your hospital bag.
P.S. Need a checklist? There’s one at the end of this post, so keep scrolling after you watch the video!

These items are specifically what I’ll need during labor. I plan to use a lot of them while laboring at home, but do plan to take them with me to the hospital too. Many of them are tools I plan to bring along for a natural birth.

BABY BAG
A lot of moms I talk to like to say things like “you don’t need to pack anything for baby because the hospital provides all of that!” But to be honest, I’m one of those annoying people who doesn’t use Johnson & Johnson products for bathing, or traditional diaper brands on my baby, so I like to bring my own baby items. Plus, if we’re being honest, baby doesn’t really need that many things. Here is what I packed for our new baby girl.
- Diapers (I like bambo nature)
- Wipes (I use water wipes)
- Coconut oil in spray bottle (for meconium)
- Baby mittens
- Baby socks
- Baby hat (mine is from Infanteenie Beenie)
- Nosefrida nasal aspirator
- Swaddle for birth (Baby Tula baby blankets)
- Onesies (love these ones)
- Extra outfits
- Extra blankets (Baby Tula ‘Cuddle Me’ blanket for me)
- Going home outfit
- Baby comb and/or brush
- Ring sling (Love my Baby Tula tencel blend ring sling)
- Car seat (We have the Uppababy Mesa)
- Baby book for footprints (optional)
