I’ve had the same pair of Hunter boots for quite some time. I love them, but they’re red, and they’re loud. I knew I wanted to invest in a new pair, but I was faced with a question that I’m sure many of us are when shopping for new Hunters. Should I buy the Hunter Original Rain Boots vs. Hunter Original Refined Rain Boots? I didn’t know the answer, but I knew I could find out how. So I bought both and did a little comparison for you!
Hunter Original Rain Boots vs. Hunter Original Refined Rain Boots
FIRST THOUGHTS OUT OF THE BOX + TRYING THEM ON
I own the Hunter Original boot in red, but when I saw the slender look of the Original Refined boot, I was intrigued. I’m not a huge fan of the bulkiness that I feel when wearing my red ones, so I was excited to try a sleeker design.
One is bulkier. Upon putting them both on, I noticed immediately that the Original boots seemed bulkier looking. They also felt bulkier but I don’t know if it was all in my head or not.
One is more feminine looking. When I looked at the Original Refined boots right out of the box, I did like them better aesthetically. They’re just a bit more feminine, and don’t have as many lines.
The toe is a different shape on one. If you just look at them side by side, you can see that the toe of the Original boots are slightly turned up. This is honestly what I didn’t like most about the Original boots and why I really wanted to try the Original Refined. The toe on the Refined version is much more subtle and doesn’t curve upwards nearly as much.
THE VERDICT: Which did I decide to keep?
I honestly loved the Original Refined. The toe aspect alone was enough for me to want to keep them. I also love that they don’t have the extra indented lines on bottom of the boot. I honestly felt like the black, especially, looked like work boots, and definitely a men’s boot. I love that these Original Refined ones look like riding boots, but have that rain boot material.
I’ll most likely wear these even when it isn’t raining, because they’re just so cute. They feel slightly lighter on the foot too. Lastly, as far as color, I also want to note that I like the matte black versus the shiny black. The shiny version just looked so fireman-ish, haha!
I hope this Hunter Original Rain Boots vs. Hunter Original Refined Rain Boots comparison was helpful to you! Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thank you so much for reading!
I’ve had the original Hunter boots (in green) for years—they hold up incredibly well, even in snow! I figure if they’re good enough for the Queen of England (they have the Royal seal!) they’re good enough for me! 😉

Those boots are such a classic to own. I love the original refined. I like the sleeker look of them. Also that sweater just looks like something I would LIVE in!

Are the refined ones as loud as the originals?
