As the weeks go on during pregnancy, my belly gets heavier and heavier, ha! About a month ago I shared how to wrap your pregnant belly with a woven wrap on my Instagram, but many of you don’t own a wrap. Ring slings are much more popular, and I’m sharing how to create a support for your belly as it grows using a sling! Keep reading to see how to wrap your pregnant belly with a ring sling!
How to Wrap Your Pregnant Belly
Do you have to be on your feet for work? Do you chase around a toddler (or toddlers) all day? Do you have lower back pain, or maybe you have pain in your lower abdomen muscles? This is for you!
If you are a visual learner, I have a video slideshow of these photos below too – keep scrolling to see that, or you can use these step-by-step instructions…
STEP ONE:
To begin, you start with your sling unthreaded. You’re going to wrap it around your belly!
(I’m using a tencel blend Tula woven ring sling in the color ‘Love Montagne’ 🙂 )
STEP TWO:
Hold the rings in your left hand and spread the fabric along your bump in the front.
STEP THREE:
Wrap the sling all the way around until you reach the rings on the other side.
STEP FOUR:
Bunch up the fabric, accordion style. This helps you easily move the fabric through the rings – so take your time with it!
STEP FIVE:
Pull the fabric that’s bunched up through both rings.
STEP SIX:
Pull the ring closest to you back…
STEP SEVEN:
Pull the fabric over the first ring, and into the second ring. (This is the trickiest part.)
STEP EIGHT:
Start to pull the fabric all the way around towards the rings to tighten!
STEP NINE:
As you gently tighten the fabric around your belly and pull it towards the rings, you can take the tail (the part hanging outside of the rings) and pull it away from your body by the tail. This will tighten any slack around your belly!
PRO TIP
This is actually great practice for using a sling with baby. Slings can have a bit of a learning curve if you aren’t used to tightening and loosening them through the rings, but you learn to do it with your belly. Then you can do it with baby inside! (Although those steps will look a bit different 😉 )
WHY DO THIS?
The wrap offers great support for when you have to be on your feet and your belly needs more support. It also helps break in a wrap or sling 😉
I don’t recommend doing this for sitting down, however; it’s only for when you need to be up and active.
