Do you ever shop for sunglasses and completely stare at the display case or computer screen completely wide-eyed? Picking the right sunglasses can be like finding the perfect pair of jeans. The way they fit your face matters for style and for comfort. And when it comes to sunglasses, comfort, my friend, is key. I’ve partnered with Maui Jim today to bring you a few tips on how to pick sunglasses that will compliment your face shape. Plus, you’ll get to learn about one of my favorite eyewear brands, Maui Jim, and their focus on living a more vibrant and colorful life. Keep reading for more tips!
How to Choose Sunglasses that Compliment your Face Shape
To be completely honest, I have a very hard time choosing stylish sunglasses that I can feel confident in. Aviators don’t look great on me because I have a very round face, and aviators are round. I try to be intentional about choosing the style of my glasses. I’ve included some recommendations for each face shape from Maui Jim, so be sure to check those out if you are on the market for some new sunglasses for Summer.
Round Faces
I have a round-ish face, so I know this category well. If you have a round face, you’ll want to stray from super round-shaped glasses frames. The best frame shape for a rounder face is a rectangular or square shape. Even a slight cat-eye looks great on a round face. See my Maui Jim picks below for round faces.

Square Faces
Since squared frames compliment round faces, then if your face is more of a square shape, you’ll want to stick with a round or oval glasses frame. These are often the style of frame that I’m drawn to, but when I put them on, I immediately have to say “no” to them because my face is so round. See my Maui Jim picks below for square faces.

Heart-Shaped Faces
Heart-shaped means you have a pointier chin, and a bigger forehead area. My chin is pretty pointy, actually, and my forehead isn’t the smallest. Pair that with a round face… so I stick with cat-eye frames. (My favorite style of frame.) This guarantees that my head is well separated by the glasses, aesthetically. I usually gravitate towards a big frame too. Small frames just accentuate the larger forehead on heart-shaped faces, so stick with big frames if you can. The ones I’m styling in the picture directly below this are my favorite. See my Maui Jim picks below for heart-shaped faces.

Oval Faces
If you have an oval-shaped face you will want to go with geometric shapes like rectangle or square frames. This ensures that the natural beauty in your face is enhanced and not hindered. Choosing smaller frames will help accentuate your oval face shape as well. See my Maui Jim picks below for oval faces.

Why you Must Try Maui Jim Sunglasses
Maui Jim is one of my favorite eyewear brands. Not only do their sunglasses fit several face shapes well, but they allow anyone who wears them to view the world through a brighter, more confident lens. The product was designed and first sold in Hawaii. With that in mind, their lenses are made so that those who like to enjoy the sun don’t have to feel the negative effects such as glare and harsh rays. Personally, I feel like my eyes are very protected while wearing my Maui Jim sunglasses. They provide great coverage because of their PolarizedPlus2® lens! You have to try out a pair of these sunnies. They’ll enhance everything you see!
